They may be less efficient than your Crossfire, so while they may potentially be capable of making more power, they may require more current to do it.

Could be true, Dave. Had a change today, upgraded my battery ground, and ran another run of 0 gauge power and ground, upgrading from 4g, and this yielded a 0.5 dB increase, and now when I swap from the Crossfire to the 2 Riprocks, the score is identical. Did some other playing around and am up to a solid 152.3 now. Oh well, see what happens this weekend I suppose, do what I can in Cranbrook and rip it all apart again for May.

Could it be that the Crossfire already drives your 12s to their limit and the extra power of the RipRocks is not only wasted but as higher draw from the electrical system?

They want more power. I can hear it clipping, it would get louder if the amps had the jam to get 'em movin'.

And how would you get 2x the signal current?

He was running the volume at approximately the same level so it was putting the same voltage out.

Loads in parallel see the same voltage as long as there is sufficient supply current to maintain the load. Think of an extension cord with a trouble light already plugged into it that you then plug a jigsaw into - they both still get 110v (as long as they draw under 15amps and don't trip the breaker) [/QUOTE]d'oh... you're right (of course!) ...

I just thought that by using a Y splitter you cut the output voltage in 1/2 because you were essentially now driving both the L & R channels of each amp off of a single 2v line instead of each getting their own 2v. [img]graemlins/freak.gif[/img]

BAD BOY JORDY hahah did u guys every test this :when using y spitters , u can plug either left or right into your amp and get the same output , I just plug them both in anyway makes no diference , it can play with one. I hate dangling wires so i plug all 4 in [img]tongue.gif[/img]
