tips on best spl car
#11
spl is all about tuning!!! finding out what works the most efficiently in your car is key, then whats most effiecient with the subs, and then the amps
this year alone i only built 3 boxes... 2 of them i cut up and rebuilt amount 20 times each just trying different things and the other one i built i took to finals
I started doing 145's when i first got my car, now i'm at 155's... time and patience is all it takes

buy lots of recones or find someone that can do them for you!
id do S10 extended cab over a civic if at all get CRX or fiat panda
or old school VW rabbit
1. get car
2. get meter
3. get BIG batt thats legal for the class u want to compete
4. get tons of power wire 1/0 preferably
5. now consider what equipment you want to run... get a really good sub that can be easily reconed if it blows... and get an amp that is capable of driving it... and can be locally fixed at a repair shop without needing to be shipped back to manufacturer
sometimes shiet happens and equipment blows when ur testing and learning

^ this post is smart, do what must be done (get power to the amp) dont buy anything till you know what makes you loud! Astrovans are loud too. The meter is essential for finding what works and what doesn't. I like 15" drivers they seem to hit the mark for SPL but there are plenty of loud 12's... 18's will be a challenge
The cost of SPL is often in the constant rebuild (try another box, and another). Don't be afraid to buy what matters and spend $ and skrimp on things that dont matter.
First thing first- what ORG do you want to compete in? Second- what class? that will determine a lot of things like woofer size and amp power and how tall the box will be etc. third- resign yourself to a sub that doesn't sound good (usually not always)

the car im building is going to be sey by the IASCA stock rules. its one 12 or two 10\'s or 3 8\'s. and i can have 2 batterys each smaller then 1200 sq in. and i can have 1 run of 1/0 g wire. the box aslo cant be over 25in tall.

Dbdrag and usaci are much more popular in western canada (and the rest of the world) so why not build your car to be legal and loud in all organizations?
Think of it this way...if you build for iasca rules (2 shows a year)you will be moved up a few classes in dbdrag (10 shows a year in bc alone) and will get spanked more than likely. But if you were to build for dbdrag rules and do decently, you would still be legal for iasca.
It would be different if we had 10 iasca shows a year and 2 dbdrag like we used to have in bc. But things change. And its nice to be able to compare your score to people all over the world rather than the 2-4 people per class that show up for iasca world finals.

just my 2 cents but theres absolutely no point in building the car for iasca stock rules when theres 2 iasca shows all year locally.
