ok dude so do u have 1200 watts of amp power or no? are you using 1 channel or 2 or 2+2 or......

if u do have real 1200 watts then none of those subs will work

if u dont, then who knows. need to know how much power u will be using.

the amp has the following specs:
2 x 300W RMS @ 4 Ohm Stereo
2 x 400W RMS @ 2 Ohm Stereo
2 x 600W RMS @ 1 Ohm Stereo
1 x 1200W RMS @ 2 Ohm Mono

i am failing to see why u wouldnt be ableto use this amp with either of the subs. my understanding this whole time is that an amp will only produce as much power as u tell it to. dial is at 50% the amp produces 50% of its power (just a simple example).

no it doesnt work like that. the gain **** on the amp is there to match the amp's output with your volume **** on the deck.

with that amp i would just use a single MTX sub with dual 4 ohm coils and run the amp at 2 ohm mono to get 800 watts out of it.

so ur saying run each VC independently on each channel. i would think thats bad news.

in order so set the gain do u not set the volume on the HU to the max u will be listening to it at and then raise the gain until theres distortion then back down a lil. thats how i always set it up. that way u wont blow ur sub.

no, not independantly. i said 2 ohm MONO. which means bridged.

the amp should make close to 800 watts (in theory anyways, who knows how much that amp really makes).

so u two coils of a dual 4 ohm sub together to get 2 ohm, and then u bridge 2 channels on the amp.

oh yeah i just read it wrong. 800w RMS @ 2 ohm bridged. the specs say it should produce 1200w RMS @ 2 Ohms bridged(if u take it from the spec sheet).
are u getting 800w RMS from the spec sheet i posted?

so ur basically saying go with the mtx.

what about a 15" treo ssx. its not in the same class as the rest but i can get one in a box for $200. its rated at 2500w rms so i would be underpowering it by alot.

my bad, 4 ohm mono

so u either need a single coil 4 ohm or a dual coil 2 ohm
