Ugly SPL

Ugly SPL
This is not a knock in any way. But why are most SPL installs so ugly? I'm an SQ guy so I'm used to everything being very neat and clean. But SPL is totally different. Is it because SPL cars are always under construction? With fewer and fewer SQ events around, I'm considering switching my car to an SQ AND SPL format. But I would like it to say nice and clean looking. Is this even possible? I guess ugly is just a point of view though?

You have to sacrifice looks for loud... Pressure wise anyways. Dont get me wrong there are nice installs out there that get plenty loud, but when you are always trying to be the loudest, you are tearing apart stuff all the time and dont want to have to much time invested in the install when you know its coming out the next day.

you can make it look nice, dont see why not? Sometimes making it look nice makes you louder, sometimes it makes you less loud. Anything can be made to look nice, SPL people either dont care for looks or just dont put time into it, that is all.
And this is comming from a real SPL person. Not the other 98% of replies to come who will have no clue what they are talking about.

SPL can be as nice as sq if the person feels like puttin in the effort

By end of year we try to make ours look as good as possible but with so much testing year round and almost always testing until last min making it look nice is hard. Not that it can't be done but it's not the priority on the list when trying to get loud.

yeah here is the thing. I can spend 2 hours to build a box that looks like crap and test it for 2 more hours to make it loud, or I can build a box for 2 hours, test for two hours to make it loud and then spend another 4 hours to make it look good but thats twice the time invested in it when I could spend that 4 hours to build and test another box that may be louder
