so you are saying someone with an amp that is rated 1000 watts but probably only does 800 rms has to compete against people with 2000watts?

depends on subs, 1000wrms and has 800wrms and has 2 10's , 1 12, or whatever(street a) is in STreet Stock A,
but Dave, your subs are "comp grade"

dave, forget about 2 crossfires strapped, the gain you get from them putting out more than rated power is pointless because you cant exceed 2kw. ANY amp that will give you 2kw will be the amp you want. and ofcourse a sub change.

I understand donny but i need to make sure that I get an amp that will make the 2000watt mark. Reason being I'll be using a pair of dual 4ohm subs. At least if I know I have the power all i gotta do is play with the volume.

and if your going to use to crossfire amps , they will easily make that 2k mark, it would probably come close to the 3k mark :P
