this might sound silly but since the sonotube is made outta cardboard, why not resin it to make it stronger. the stronger/more dense, the better the number, no?

That is a possibility. I do recall using tin tape on a 9" in the golf last year which was good for a .2 to.4 gain but not yet. Still plenty of testing to do before that is done.
