Ok guys you all have some real good points .... but the termlab, and audio control meters are two of the best out there and NASA uses the termlab to do Pressure Testing at the Cape Canaveral Base for "classified research" or whatever , any way if any one has ever been around an actual db event and seen and felt what spl in excess of an ACTUAL 160 db can do then you will understand how the meters work, they record pressure incoming into a small mic or "box" and that sound pressure is then recorded as spl or db's in numbers , oh and by the way if anyone actually sat in a vehicle that REALLY does anything over a 165 or even a 170 db legal on the dash sealed up ,..... ah sorry you would be DEAD. period because it would cause your heart to go into defib, and implode your lungs , cause massive internal bleeding in your temperal lobe arteries,.... i could go on forever (Im a Certified EMT Medic by the way) and yes my vehicle has been to world finals and been tested on their meters to hush up some naysayers ... anyways just my 2 cents worth no offense meant to anyone , oh by the way if you ever get the chance to talk to the greatest spl Lady of all time Ms Alma Gates , ask her what 170 db feels like from OUTSIDE her bronco, with only one door open, it might suprise you

not entirely sure if the tl is designed different than the ac190 but the ac190 uses a mass airflow sensor (along the lines of what you would find in a car) with a small mic to determine the freq being burped.....im sure the Tl would be along the same lines?
