wattage question

I have 2 HX2 12" and am currently running 450 watts to each.
I would like to know how much wattage I can safely put to these?
It says that they can handle 500 watts ...is this under rated?

safely they can handle the rated amount.....and of clear clean crisp power. if you are feeding them from a distored signal..then id probably half that....if yo are talking about near limits for spl.....safely burp....id say you can go to about 3 times what they are rated for and do a nice burp...

amp = 1500 watts rms x 1 @ 1 or 2 ohms
subs = 500 watts rms / 100 watts peak

Does that help?

Although you're going to have to upgrade some electrical system components in that car to get the most out of the amps.
oh i realize that i have to upgrade a couple of things before i try to get the power that is needed for these amps to run properly.
Thanks for the info and advice.
