what do u mean u call bs? lol. it's a fact. why do u think spl cars have tons of batteries? providing juice is only half of it, the other half is to prevent voltage from dropping too low cuz u can pop a number of amps in one shot.

almost sounds closley related to the myth of not enough power blowing speakers to me

in this myth rail sag and clipping under heavy draw will increase power to the voice coil... and likewise cause an increased load on psu fets... (regulated and unregulated both in the case of clipping)...... But again it is asinine to suggest that more power (voltage) delivery will prevent damage..... and any one with an EE background will tell you that an amp is more likely to blow while puking its guts out in a SPL burp off a bank of 100 batteries then it is off a single battery.......

some may still disagree, but based on the wide variety of failure modes an amp can die under, I seriously doubt anyone here has any sort of conclusive evidence that supports the theory of voltage drop killing amplifers... (which is certainly to the contrary IMO as well as in the opinion of other EE types I know who post on similar forums)

On the otherhand I would agree that burping your amp at 100% + duty at reduced loads will increase your odds of letting out the majik smoke.... As will feeding it 16+ volts during the burp.....
Yet again.... you're so far off when it comes to talking about anything in the SPL section it's ridiculous.

You even said yourself that with a tighly regulated power supply that voltage drop won't be an issues.

What about an unregulated supply?

Like I said, ask anyone (even an EE) who has run an Earthquake D2. If you play it above 10.5v you're fine. Dip any lower and you will blow the amp.

It's been tested time and again.

I have to Agree 100%.. I know of a few Class D amps that flip into protection when the voltage gets below 12 volts. the Memphis amp I run would jump into protection when my cap indicate 12.4 V or less.. but in reality what it was is the remote wire coming off the deck was dropping below 12 volts, after the help from the same member i quoted, i no longer have this problem and gained a db while dropping to 12.2V wit the car off.

I think it sounds amazing, it is one of the loudest and cleanest systems I have owned! But with this being said! I am sure there will be skeptics as always!! I gotta get this mic'd and see roughly where I am hitting!! Anyone offering to help a guy out?? LOL

yawn... nice box but its not trimmed the way I like em... so I wouldn't hit it... had to tell some gurl the same tonight.... lol

unregulated supplied or regulated below 12V... stick a clamp on em and they pull less current with less voltage.... so what is blowing the amp other then driving it hard to begin with ???

"so what is blowing the amp other then driving it hard to begin with ???" User error. Not knowing SPL.
