What brand?

I put this in SPL because that's what I'm going for...

My question is what do you all think of the Pioneer DEH-P5000 for a head unit?
Why do people say to go with Alpine instead of Pioneer?

Mainly features, also voltage and people have had problems with pioneer decks. My choice would be alpine, but over alpine, kenwood.

That's cool...but what if the voltage is the same out of the two that I'm looking at? I was told that a Pioneer 4 volt would be shittier than an Alpine 4 volt.

I know you're gonna say it's my choice in the end...but I've just never liked Alpine...would it really make that much of a difference you think? The same guy told me that Kenwood was even worse than Pioneer.

I am more that happy with my Pioneer HU. Great sound quality, simple to navigate and won't skip when I crank the crap out it.

i think most loud people use alpine but thats likely because they used them back in the day because they were hard to skip...now adays any deck will skip and you need a changer anyway so you may as well get what looks nice and has the features you want for the price you can afford... I feel like pioneers tend to be less expensive than alpine

Good luck finding an Alpine deck with 4 volts anymore. Pioneer have it almost as a standard with a deck over $250.00. Kenwod's Excellon is the same way. JVC has loads of high voltage output decks. Alpine sure has changed over the last few years...for the worst. It's a damn shame!
