i was looking at getting a amplifyer capible of putting out a couple thousand watts. so whats the difference between a amp company like orion or audio baun on the clean power end and a amp the lanzar or hifonixs makes. is it worth paying almost double for the better brand name?

^^^ couldnt have said it better myself
i can vouch for the orion amps they are awsome and under rated.i have had mine for over a year and have never had a problem with it.

Ive always known orion to be good.. but I've seen quite a few kickers/rockfords take a dump...

I've also ran some 'cheap' brands with no problems whatso ever... some may be overrated, but you can usually get a good idea of what it will do just by looking at it... others cheapies have been tried and tested...

As far as A-bahn, there ratings vary.. many seem to be maximum (dynamic) ratings with 14v input.. Orions should be continuous RMS, at what voltage I don't know...

audiobahn does not make a good amp capable of that power. The exception is the A5000SPL or something but its class A/B so very inefficient. Orions 2500D is a good amplifier but if I were in the market I wouldn't buy anything other than a Earthquake D3, or Zapco 9.0

I would personally suggest, if you wish to use Audiobahn the DUB1800 or A18001DT, they are both strapable and run good power efficiently, I tested the smaller one A12001DT and got 1280 RMS @1 ohm reactive @ 13.2 volts... so the 1800's should be just as good...yes the SPL5000 puts out awsome power(8KW if powered right) but you do need a good power supply to run them(lots of batteries and a good alternator) they run really awsome on a 16 volt system...otherwise I would suggest Mmats 3000.1's or the 3000.05's awsome amps @15 volts the 3000.1 @ 0.5 ohm reactive produced 3500-3600 RMS ... Im not a big fan of Earthquake myself
