What distinguishes a good from bad amp

I compeated all year with 4 d3s on a 12 volt system and they did great, but if your voltage dip too low they will smoke, also if the gain it too high at .5 ohms or less el smoko then also.I compeate for Team Audiobahn now and use 4 of the spl 5000's and i would say those amps kick ***. ive never blown one of them. As long as you got some voltage that amps will make killer power!! [img]graemlins/bow.gif[/img] SPL 5000

this seems like a good place to ask this question...
there are some visonik comp. 12's and some clif designs comp. 12's at xs cargo. both have just about the same "published" specs and both are about the same price.
which ones would you go with? mostly just based upon brand name and RELIABILITY.

IN MY Honest opinion i dont think there are any (BAD ) amps out there unless they fry or blow up in your face
Most amps are built to produce power some more than others but realy it is all up to the installs... aplication , soooo....... many names to choose from and models also .... there is no good or bad there is only POWER
