I don't think he means that it's never happened to him...

He's been to a LOT of shows. Hell, a few of the people who have already posted in here have been to a ridiculous number of shows. (I've been to a fair number myself) and I think I can safely say that this hasn't happened when I've been there or any one of the "regulars". If we see a guy who is at a show and is giving his best we will do everything we can to help them out.

I think Neils (Ligeia) comments are based on what he's seen from some of the SPL competitors on the forums. To say that we're all like that is very unfair.

brother i've been competing for some time now and i've probably forgotten about more shows than you have been to. When i was a noob this never happened to me, nor have I seen this happen to any other noobs at any shows ever and I've must have been to hundreds of shows, i think 30 this summer alone. yet, i am to see what it is you are talking about.

perhaps what you are meaning to say is that you would be affraid this would happen to you? i dont know if thats your own insecurity or what, but people who are affraid of loosing and cry about being beat without even entering the competion shouldnt even bother - stay home and watch cartoons. I find alot people worry too much about their ego gettin hurt.

I was asked to do some spl metering at the Toronto Integra Club meet the other day and you would be surprized how many people did not want to meter their cars. It was free and it was not a competition. Some of these guys were crying that there is no point of metering their spl b/c someone else is probably louder anyways - remember, this was not a competition and these guys were still crying about not being loud enough.

the way i really feel is who cares about noobs and making it easy for them to enter the competition scene. if you want to compete you will do it anyways, there are a whole bunch of examples of what im talkin about just from around here alone, im not gonna name them.

there was no mini street or rookie category of any sort when i started. i had to compete and loose by 15 - 20 db's, hey look im still competing i didnt go commit a suicide. once again, there is a great number of people who i can name who went thru the same thing.

what other sport do you know off that has categories for people who dont like loosing too much? can you imagine that in pro boxing? if you whine and bitch enough you will get to fight another whiny bitch just like you.

I have never been to a car audio competition and will likely never go to one. So yes, you have probably forgotten about more shows than I have been to. Of course, old age could be affecting your memory.

I have absolutely zero insecurities of losing or crying in any way shape or form. I choose to not go to events because I have no desire to. I used to play around with car audio as a little hobby. Was never into it as a serious hobby nor as a competitor. Oh and there is nothing wrong with cartoons.

My point was simply that because something hasn't happened to YOU, doesn't mean it hasn't happened to anyone else. Speak from your own experiences and not FOR others. As well, the LOL at the end of the post should have implied to you that it was just a joke and I was simply kidding around. I dont know if thats YOUR own insecurity or what, but lighten up a little and laugh It does the body good.

Coming from a noob, Mini Street.

I can guarantee you the main reason there is no noobs is because its kind of an elite-ist sport, where people pour tons of time and money to achieve high scores then just not touch there setups. Since no one wants to bother trying to crack the surface and even break 150 without just buying a ton of gear, few noobs even see fit to try.

Yes, Jordy. Like usual, you're good at cutting through the BS. By no means did I intend to infer that all SPL competitors are like that (in fact, I think I said otherwise), but my impressions haven't been too positive on this forum. I have no doubt that people could be entirely different in real life at competitions, but imagine for a moment that prior to going to a competition you come online to see what the people are like or connect with others who share the same interests....then you read some of the posts here and lose interest.
