we gotta focuse on those who are able and willing to participate but are maybe unaware of where, how and when these types of things take place.

in general, the scene is dead because of one reason - total lack of manufacturer support. there is zero dollars to be made in this, all the big companies have already made their money by investing into the car audio scene in the 80's and early/mid 90's. it's simple marketing.

there is a need for a new approach in order for this to survive. right now, we are just kinda being blown in the wind without a direction, and with time all of this will simply dissapate.

the way the infrustructure used to work was like this,

manufacturer (support/money/promotion) -> shops (sales/event organization/product support) -> consumer/competitor (paying etry fees/buying products).

but now the manufacturers have dropped out..............................

to be continued.
You are exactly right. I remember going to audiothunder in 1993 and 1994 and seeing ss and extreem competitors using equipment from Ample audio, rockford fosgate, pioneer, pheonix gold, mtx, etc. etc. These vehicles were competitive among those using tougher brands like DD, Atomic, etc. The mainstream equipment was used by shop owners and sponsoree's and the manufacturor stood behind these guys making it possible to replace cones between rounds!

The other problem i see is lack of advertisement. For example: Last spring there was a show held on the outskirts of Lindsay(where i live) and not one local person "aside from those on this forum" attended, im confident that if the local bassheads knew there was gunna be a show we may have seen another 20 cars entering and some more from peterborough.

Get the word out. Know how to reach the local crowd wherever you host a show.
We probally wont see car audio restored to what it once was on a competitive scale, but locally there are things we can do.

Regardless of what I picked we need to have support from the manufacturers, whether or not we have a world finals venue I think that only the hardcore people will register. As for the trash talking, this goes from one vet to the next so why would that matter to a new comer? Let's say that there is a world finals location in toronto, remember, you will have to get a db drag member in order to be even looked at for a world finals invitation and also, you'll need the mimimal amount of points which I think is 75(don't quote me on it, you can ask fospl deezy for the correct amount). We all need to get off of our asses and start flooding all the shows that are available to us now. I can guarantee that if all you keyboard splers came out the shows and support by just participating that would be the biggest start to begin with. Don't you think that the industry would start noticing if all the shows up here minimum of 100 competitors coming to all the shows. I think so. If you lose, big deal. The main thing you do gain is knowledge and friendship. People who would be willing to give you advise as to how to improve. No one puts anyone down at shows. With all the people here on this forum who are always putting in their own 2 cents just come out and compete. Use it as a learning experience and if someone bugs you, come and tell me and I'll deal with them myself.lol

I went with cost to be competitive because i didnt see an "i drive a sh*tty car option". Being married, and just too busy lately, i just dont have time or money to put towards building up anything decent.
Although, once i have some time and i can make it out to an event, i plan to come out with what i have to work with.
The trash talk seems required, and is more like a compliment than an insult if you ask me. ... i have never had anyone trash talk me yet (except an old man at a local Tim Hortons who said the roof of my car looks like a peeling sunburn...he's so right)...so i know i'm doin something horribly wrong.
Closest city to me is London, so it is nearly impossible to find any events that arent a few hours away, which is where time comes into play...i just dont have any lately.
Newbs gettin spanked....who doesnt enjoy a good spanking? .... ohhh...you were referring to me.....i still like getting spanked....who doesnt?
Lack of competition?...does my wife count as competition? Cause then i have plenty of competition. Every time i need to spend money into the car, she competes with bills, anniversaries, "i need this", and a really uncomfortable couch.
Europeans so far ahead....what's a european?....i live in Aylmer...."yer-a-peein" means i had too many drinks and im peeing myself.
Finals locations...what's a final? I just like to hear loud cars and get my car as loud as i can with what i have. And events are a great way to meet people from the forums and get to know them....and to see their top secrets of SPL...mwwhaaahaahaahaa! ... yeah ok, i havent learned a thing yet.

That pretty much covers it from my point of view.

... because it's stupid. Music is why speakers are made and when all you care about is one tone it leaves out the entire industry it's based upon. Make me an SQL class.

this is to continue.....

what we need is a new type of structure of how things work.

in the past, all these spl leagues did nothing but cash in on competitors and manufacturers. that time is long gone and i bet you in a few years db drag and iasca will be up for sale, as they do not really give back or provide any benefit to those who participate. if they fail to restructure very soon, those dinasours will die. if you take db drag for exmple, all they have done in the last few years is jack up prices for shows and put finals in locations that cost the least amount - providing ZERO benefit to those who pay up for memberships, show fees and finals entries.

when was the last time you saw ANY sort of advertising for db drag or iasca? they didnt even bother promoting themselves and i would not miss them much if they die completelly. they totally deserve it.

CSPL did everything right, well almost everything, but the idea was pretty good. what kinda pushed ppl away from cspl were lack of proper rules/classes and any sort of competitor statistics.

but as far as giving back, CSPL had done everything right. Good prizes, competitor profiles in the magazine, show pictures and scores in magazines, manufacturer involvement, etc. CSPL was also promoted in the magazine and had a good number of shops on board.

anyway, the scheme has got to change. forget about manufacturers, and probably majority of the shops as most of them do not see the bigger picture and are only trying to make a quick buck. I stoppe bothering with most shops, waste of time.

i think what will save this sport is not what has worked in the past, but rather a totally new approach. An approach where right people/factors work together. People and factors such as competitors, show promoters, magazines, websites and leagues.
