XXX or JL
I ended up with 2- 12" XXX subs for $400 which I was getting ready to pop in my van. BUT I have now been offered 2- 12" JL 12W7 for $500 including a tuned ribbed box. what would be better to go with my 2 US amps M2 2D Merlins? I have been tossing it around in my mind so lemme have your thoughts. On this post I am thinking best SPL please. thanks alot

This should be a poll. lol. I haven't ever listened to the XXX but can say that 2 12W7's get loud and sound great doing it. Not to mention the larger than average cone area. Just don't forget about their retarded wiring configurations.

Cool, not everyone is a fan of them coils nor even are aware of the 3ohm thing until too late. How much power will them Merlins make into 3 ohms? I think they are 1500 rms @ 2ohms right? Should pair up well. I didn't notice where you said you had "2" amps. The 1.3 ohm thing might not be good for one amp.

Well, I have not heard the XXX in person, but I looked at the specs on their website, and if it a new version the one that weighs more than 70lbs a piece, and have more than 50mm xmax, and if box size will be correct, and if final impedance will allow to get the most from your Merlin, they should mop the floor with the JL's output wise. Not even close...

Heres the lowdown, I am not sure whats going on but prices on certain SPL capable parts are WAAAY down.
I bought this month:
2 XXX for $400
1 XXX New in box $255
1 Merlin M2D2 $111 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and a bunch of other deals, seems to be a matter of right place right time. Half the deals were from eating lunch near a cash swappers, those losers offered the guy $120 for the 2 W7's. Another I got on ebay, no one hit the reserve, auction ended. He emailed and sold me for my high bid! Just luck, I must be blessed

Those aren't deals they're steals! It's funny you say that because I always get things in two's and I havn't heard "lucky rabbits foot" in over a year. I was rubbing my dogs foot yesterday (white samoyed husky) and he looked at me funny and I say "well it's close enough" lol. I also want newer XXXs. There must be a connection between XXX's and LRF's.
