You're on the right path, choosing better/well built product with multichannel amplification. If possible, make sure the install is just as 'up to par', as your product is. Perhaps- If you have the time, mount all speakers in enclosures (vented/tuned etc.), and solidly mount them to the vehicle. As chitownsq mentioned 8" work very well in the doors. (To me), bass works great up front for sq... give them power and it will put a smile on your face every time. If you play a musical instrument; it gives a similar 'loudness and presence' feeling

Hope this helps!

I run Morels and I find them very smooth. The tweeter blends very well with the mid, Even when the tweeters are mounted further away like in the pillars.

Those A-Pillar mods look pretty fancy. I am pretty sure the guys at the store here do all that sort of stuff. I am now considering the Audison 3-way orchestra set. (tweeter, 3 inch and 6.5inch). Although this set up will run nearly double what the hertz set up would so I have to think about that a lot. If I ran an 8" up front, what would I need? Would that be my sub, or a midbass? Would I need a tweeter, then like a 3 or 4", then the 8, then instead of 4 x 8's in the back, do 2 x 10's?

Any of the combination you have mentioned will work. Though some like the 8 and tweet combo alone, normally the 8's would be used with any two/three way speaker set up. As well, your final tuning will determine if they are in a mid-bass or sub frequency band. If you want to have the windshield wipers move from the music ( ) then you will also need to add the extra 4 8's or 2 10's. The amount, placement and number of extra drivers will depend on how loud you want it to play.

If you are confident in your installer/s this could be a great sounding system.

Hope this helps!

No problem, I know what it is like when deciding to purchase a new vehicle. I just got to work so I dont have any pictures. The back seats are fold down seats individually and underneath them are storage compartments for the jack and utilities etc. Without some creative thinking, it is difficult to put subs in there. I will probably cub out that storage, make a full fiberglass box and make it completely custom. If you didnt want to do that, you can get some custom boxes from a guy on tacomaworld.com or a stealthbox from JL audio. I am referring to the access cab, the quad cab however there is plenty of room and tons of people have nice systems in those trucks.
Either way, I absolutely love my truck and have 0 regrets about it.

Maybe its my lack of knowledge, but wouldnt a tweeter, 6.5, 8 for sub sound better than a tweeter, 8 for midbass, and 8 for subs?
Also, now that I think about it, going with a tweeter, 3", 6.5" and 8" for subs wouldnt that be a bit overkill?
I have had 2 tens in my previous truck (dakota with an mtx enclosure, then replaced those subs with alpine type s's because they were the only thing that fit) and I liked them, but I think I want to try 4 8"s this time. For looks, for kick, and for sound. The installer said it mostly depends on the box and how he makes it which will determine how well the subs will perform. Im so lost as to what to choose!

That's the best part of reproducing sound. Trying to find the best combination for the most enjoyment. To say that one is better than another (to me) is difficult to say. Everyone has an opinion of what is good; it comes down to what you like. Listen to as many combinations that you can, preferably in a vehicle. Also, a good thing to keep in mind is depending the product; listening to something on a display board may sound completely different in your vehicle.

If your sole goal is to win at a competition, learn as much as you can about sound/physics. It will help your decision making for how much or how little to do with something.

There really are so many combinations. I feel your pain, lol.

Post some pics of your system when done, love to see it.

Hope this helps!
