give me a 99$ concept car audio coax, and i can make it sound pretty damn good if i spend the time to test different locations and install properly. you cant take a great sounding set of speakers and install them poorly and you will performance not equal to a 99$ set of coaxials.
its really importanat and i cant stress it enough that people spend the time to apply the speakers they purchase and not just fire them in a factory location mounted to metal in a door and things like that. i think that alot can be learned by diy'ers experimenting with different mounting locations and techniques

used the mb quart psd 216 all last yr and placed no lower than 2end at any iasca or usaci show. i took out my dynaudios for these drivers and i loved my dynaudio. no one can dispute there winning record at any sound off event over the past 15yrs. so people can say what they want but i will back a PROVEN winner.
I'd tend to agree with defro13....Any speakers I install sound better than anything else I've heard....take the time to find a good installer and let him work his magic...the speakers are just parts on the counter until they've been installed. A car door has got to be the farthest thing from a good speaker box there is, so spend some time and cash on the install, and whatever's left over, buy the best parts you can afford.
got the same Question guys my budget is 150-200 per pair front and back. don't laugh but I have xscargo speakers 5.1/4 in the front and stock in the back baught them for sale for $12.50 I feel like such a cheap a$$ now.Any suggestions would be appreciated guys, may wait till May 1 to look up at your shop Paul and Chris.was wondering what kind of power to put to the speakers what size of amp would be sufficent.

what speakers would you recommend as better value than the focal?

DLS sets are in the same price bracket as Focal...except that DLS doesn't have a set with a Berillium tweeter and an $8000 price tag.
DLS is nice, I'm not disputing that.....I'll stick with my Utopia's though, thanks.

I just personally like the DLS Iridium 6.5 comps. They come in around the same price as the utopia 6.5 set and have, non pressed paper cone, neo motor, 3" coil and soft textile dome tweeter. In my opinion no set sounds better then the next, they all sound different. It is all in the eye of the beholder 100%.
If we were only limited to price and it did not have to be a component set, I would say that a set of HLCD's with a good mid bass driver will smoke anything out there. Again personal opinion, I have heard and owned many many high end comp sets and three way sets from Rainbow, Focal, DLS, Macrom, MB Quart, Alpine F1, Dynaudio, and others in that realm and am yet to hear a set that could compete with an Image Dynamics HLCD component set which is their entry level horn and mid. When properly tuned they will blow any mid/tweet combo out of the water and still be at the $1000 Canadian retail price range, which is like any good high end comp set. Again I say in my opinion.
