6.5 Inch Audiobahn popping sound
Hello,
I started hearing a popping sound coming from my front left 6.5" Componint speakers.
I tearned the balance and fader so only that speaker is on. Except for the popping sound the speaker sounds fine. Getting bass and midrange through it.
I have an appointment tomorrow at a installer, but am curious to know what this could be.
I have a 4x75 watt Audiobahn amp driving this.

This is something that had just started happening, so I wasn't thinking about the crossover.
What would happen if the tweeter blew? Would it make that kind of sound?

well you said they are component speakers, so im assuming the tweeters are mounted elsewhere. i wouldn't think a blown tweeter would make a 6.5" woofer pop.
however, the 6.5" may be blown.
does is only make popping sounds on certain notes? or is it random?

They are component, but they are attached.
The audiobahn tweeter can screw into the woofer and be mounted as 1.
I also have a seperate tweeter at the top of the door, so it makes listening a little harder.
The sound is constant. I guess I'll just have to wait and see...
I'll be really ticked if it's toast. I just replaced my sub driver because it blew.
I don't listen to the stereo at extremley high levels.
With the sub, they said it may have bene caused by voltage irregularities, So I had them install a large Cap and a Optimum Yellow top battery.
All the equipment has just recently been installed into this car. I had it installed in a previous car for a few years with no issues.... Time to keep the fingers crossed...

no offense here, but audiobahn stuff isn't the greatest out there.
sound like they just wanted your money for a cap and battery.
if it turns out something is blown, look into a different company for fronts.
anything from hertz, morel, hybrid, even alpine and jl are solid.
hopefully its an easy fix though.

Disconnect the tweeter at the passive crossover and listen to the speaker. See if it pops. Then swap the rca cables (with power off) from the right to the left and vice versa and see if the popping goes to the other side now. If it does the speaker is fine and the headunit is the issue. You can do a similar thing with moving the speaker wires from the right to left and left to right, if the popping moves to the other side, then the amp is the issue. If the same side continues to pop, it is the speaker itself and it needs to get buried very deep so that the Chrome on it can never again see the light of day. No it cannot be fixed. To me it sounds like new speakers are in your future. Let me know if you want a deal on some good ones.
