Appreciate the constructive replies!
To answer Mr2NR:
Yes its a dodge. Totally factory at the moment but I will be running subs & all speakers will be amplified, with active crossovers.
If I got 5.25 components, wont the staging be a little off, with the midbass coming from up front & the highs coming from over my shoulder? Or would putting the tweets up forward offset this?
I like where this is going though!

keep everything in front or its gonna sound like total crap. mid in door and tweet in A pilar or dash or on the door.

Here is a picture of the truck:

When I say its mint Im talking showroom.

And here is one of the workhorse:

That one has factory 5.25's off the deck, type-r 6x9's running off a 2x75w & 2 JL 10's under the seat, powered by a 2x150w unit. It sounds okay but distorts when I turn it up to where I like it & the subs are all kicked in from people riding in the back!
The new truck is getting quality gear & will be done right.

Leave the rear speakers as a pointsource 5.25", keep it simple there. The front speakers, be it a 6x9" pointsource running as a component or a 6.75" component set takes care of the rest.

By the sounds of your post you are trying to fit the 5.25" mid from the component set and another midrange up front somewhere. Bad idea. Leave the 5.25" in the factory spot in the rear door, leave the other speakers up front.

Hit me up on msn if you like, forbidden@telus.net

Taking into account what DanyMan said, what about putting regular 6x9's in the door, then try to stuff 6.5" midbass drivers into the b-pillar?
That way the front stage is up front & the midbass is coming over the shoulder

No. You will have more midbass coming from the larger front speakers, especially with an amplifier on them.

tip..... msn works better and quicker that post after post.... I am at the shop for about 15 more minutes, then home and can continue there as well.

if your not using 3 way componants what your gonna have is a mid and a tweeter. meaning there will be voices off of those mids. and your music will be so off you will want to destroy that nice truck
