6x9 midbass?

my car is primarily SPL but i listen to rock/metal/punk so im working on making it sound better i have 5.25" comp set in the front and am wondering how to approach the rear to get more mid bass in the car, my car comes with 4 6x9's one in each door i made plates for the 5.25 in the front doors and am wondering if the 6x9 mid bass drivers are any good or if i should go with a standard 6.5"?

thanks guys

If I were you I would move the 5.25" comps you already have into the rear deck and install a set of 6.5" comps up front. There is nothing wrong with some rear fill in the car, but you don't want it to over power your front sound stage. This is of coarse aimed at your daily driving music and not the SPL side at all.

As for your question on 6x9 mid bass there are some nice ones out there that kill regular 6.5" components in the mid bass area

well i dont have a rear deck, i drive a dodge caliber its like a small wagon.

i have found a few 6x9 mid bass well actually only one so far but i know there are others, and they seem to be pretty stout, the problem is my spl box doesnt have a whole lot of range and im fine with that really but there is alot to be desired when listening to normal music if i just drove around with rap all day i wouldnt care but since i dont this is something i have been wondering.

Never heard them personally, but have read good things about the Image Dynamics 6x9's for midbass.

actually, 4-6x9's sound really good. My cousin's Chrysler 300 has 6x9's like yours, but he upgraded to JBL power series and added 2x12" subs. The 6x9's handle 110 watts rms each easily, and he gives them 150x4 with an Alpine pdx 4150. It sounds great, won't win any staging or imaging contest, but it's super clean, and loud as hell...full range loud...not just bass. It sounds like a concert hall inside the car. It all depends on what you want.

There are some and some good 6x9 and some soso and some great 6 1/2" midbass drivers. Shop till you find the one that makes you happy, dont be surprised if it is not the most expensive product either
