^ Install budget would be proportional to what class you want to be in. If you were shooting for street class then the install budget would about equal the gear costs.

If you want to play higher then the install is going to cost more.

 

i dont think that you could build a car that could be competitive on a national level with 1000 usd in labour, thats only 3 8 hour days for 1 person, testing alone would consume at least 1/3 of that time, that would leave only 2 days for 1 person to build a competitive car. it would take 1 day to wire it , at least, the way a car has to be wired for competition

And I said competitive - not a finals winner. I bet it could get there though. Of course this is not for 'every' car on the road but a good many of them.

im not talking about a finals winner either, i dont think that it can be done, unles you charge 10 dollars an hour, then you would have 100 hours, thats 2 weeks and a little more like it. maybe in the basic consumer class you could do it in 1 week, 5 days, but not in advanced or any pro class. dukk if you were to do it in 3 days what geear would you use, lets say that we only have 3 days to build it, for real, what gear would you use

 

I'll agree with Dukk, I think I could build a competitive car for a street class in 3 days.. However I wouldn't include tuning into that time frame or dollar figure.

 

how much of your 3 days would be spent testing speaker locations, how much for building. how would divide up your 24 hours?

 

Again it depends on the car, however this is a quite SIMPLE system listed.

R+R interior 2 hours...
Rough wire with loom and securing it as per rules and sound deadening 4 hours.
Eat and take daily crap 1/2 hour
Install deck and rear speakers 1 1/2.

day two

lay down glass for the base of the kick panels. 1 hour
build box, cut teardrops for kicks, quick trim panel and carpet the trunk.. finish installing amp. 4 hours.
Lunch and crap again 1/2

assemble and test speaker placement, stretch and glass kick panels 2.5

Day 3
finish the Kicks and sand them out 3 hours

Vinyl kicks 1 hour

Install speakers and Panels into car 1 hour

lunch... and crap.. (damn burger king) 1/2 hour

Clean vehicle and give initial tune 2 hour

Deliver to client and spend seat time with them showing in and outs of the system. With thier feedback making any changes to the sound of the system they request...

The real only flaw in the system IMO is the lack of flexibility in tuning. I am unfamiliar with the current line of Alpine HU's but I can't picture more than a 5 band being on board. And IMO deck power would be insuffiecent for my tastes. However bang for the buck I feel its a great value for the client.
