If added processing makes it sound bad, it's because you didn't "process" it right hehe.

I ave no problem admitting I use lots of processing. Its a tool, and I use it.

You car never sounded processed. Mine did!:thumbsdow and I confirmed with by using the P01 as a preamp at home.

Didn't you say the pioneer piece was audiophile grade. Second to pretty much only Denon (paraphrasing)? But it made your system sound processed? What part of that is audiophile grade? I know the pioneer is good, so maybe it was your car/tuning and not your equipment?

I've never understood the thing people have with Denon. It's good, yes. But really this is a mid level brand. It would be nice to see a genuine hi-fi CD transport in car audio. Not that I would buy one, I'm way too cheap for that!

I did a direct A/B comparison off my bryston preamp with a kenwood x794 cdp vs the p01/p99 and I preferred the Kenwood sound to the pioneer on certain tracks. Keep in mind guys it's on certain tracks I only found this anomaly. It doesn't sound processed now and I'm using zapco DC reference amp with their processing and the Kenwood cdp mentioned before. It's something in the pioneers TA that made my system sound funky. I never had this with the H701, Bitone or 360.2. The denon Z1 I owned was heavily modded and a coax digital output was added. It by far with the bitone was very good, but I could not compete with it due to the bitone issues.

Fozzz pointed my sound was off at Daytona and I managed to adjust it with simply moving the TA value up by one or down by one-can't really remember the values but it was that.

I recall back in the mid-90s when RF came out with their first CD players the design engineer telling me he went through an extensive search for the *best* mobile audio transport on the market. As it turns out, at that time Matsushita made it, and the funny bit was they didn't use it in any of their own products

So I ordered an H800 today, got a great deal on it from ebay, will post my review on the unit once I receive it!

But you already have a 701. What advantage will the new unit provide?
