Alpine Type x problems...?
i read somewhere that the alpine type x subwoofer has the tendancy to blow apart. anyone ever had any problems with there type x?
i heard that if its in an improper box than it wil have these kind of problems, but i would assume all would. i made a box and that got me a little worried since i am no pro at making enclosures, how forgiving are the x's?

An incorrect enclosure can damage any speaker.
If you are new at this, generally the manufacturer supplies a diagram with all the dimensions for a box that will work correctly.
The X's may be forgiving, but, with an improper enclosure, you are not getting your moneys worth in terms of sound.

It is a ported box, that i have calculated to be around 1.38 cubic feet, which is near what the sub calls for, i was just curious as too the subs general strenght, in a proper box? i heard the r's are a stronger sub the the x actually. just wondering what are the better overall sub because i currently have both, 10" r and x, but im trying to sell the r's for a complete type x system.

I just build a sealed box for my x. I have never heard of the subs blowing apart. but a customer we had at the shop i work at had a 12 blow his prefabed bassworx box apart. we put the box and sub demotions in bass box pro ( that a computer program if you don’t know) and it said it should be fine. I spent my of hours on that program trying to figure out what box i was going to build and it seam that a sealed box anywhere close to the recommend spec's you should be good.

Well my ported box is right around spec so I think it should be fine, just read on some post somewhere that the R's were stronger and the X's and blow a lot easier. Just curious since I just spent a bunch on the X's. How do you like the X's?

Well I can comferm I get more x's back blown. We just had one customer blow 2 in a week. But he was an idiot. Ya I agree the R could be called stronger. Well I Havnt got the x in my car yet. its still a ways away from being finnished. But i have heard them in some amazing setup's. they always impress

When you say this guy was an idiot what do you mean by that, did he just pound the sub for the sake of loud bass trying to impress, just dumb stuff like that or is there something else I should be aware of.
And if the subs are in a box around spec, hooked up properly and ran respectably (pdx 1.1000 to 2 10's), everything should sound good and hold out for long lifetime?

hahaha, serves him right, I hate those kinda guys, Im more into SQ than anything else. So it seems like I don't have anything to worry about then eh. If everything is tuned properly it should sound good and perform well right?
