Amp for 2 Type-X and 2 Type-R speakers?

My biggest frustration with trying to do research at different stores is they all tell you different things... maybe it will be the same in here, but I'll pose this question anyways...

I have a 2002 Civic and I want to upgrade my system... I've got a cheap sub I'll keep from my old car, and I want to upgrade my speakers. I'll probably keep my old type-R's for the back, but want top of the line for the front two 6.5"s... I'm thinking about two type-X's. Can someone give me some insight on the minimum amp that would give these amazing speakers the power they need? I'm thinking the best setup would be one preout to my old amp and sub, and one to an amp to power all four 6.5" speakers. If the minimum amp to truly do these speakers justice runs around $1000 (as one salesman stated), I'm thinking I should just go with Type-R's and get an amp I can afford (although the Type-S's sounded better in the store for some reason)... do I sound confused? I am.

And although I don't have a new deck yet, I'm leaning towards the Alpine 9857, Clarion 765, or Eclipse CD4000. I should also mention I'm all about SQ, not just loud.

Thanks,
Dave

Pioneer 880PRS can be found super cheap and has enough processing and tweaking ability to keep the SQ guy in you happy.

Infinity makes a nice big 4ch REF7541A that will do you nicely on those 6.5's (plenty of power for the Type X comps). Last tiem I saw you could get one refurbed from Futureshop for super cheap also.

There's some ideas for you for nice gear for a good price.

Wow, you need a $1000 amp to do this, I would so walk away from a dude like that. There are lots of great options for speakers and amplifiers. It depends on your budget and what you want the system to do for you. How a speaker performs in a store vs. a car are two totally different things.

There are many speakers to consider depending on your budget. If tonal response is what you are after, look at the Morel and Focal speakers, matter of fact even the Eclipse components are amazing and at a fraction of the price that the higher end speakers I just listed are. A good amp can be had for the $500 mark that will do the job just fine, if you want to spend more that's great, then you can get more power if you like for the day that you really want to step up the sub system.

ive got a set of the Type X components on an alpine mrp-f240, just a little bottom of the line 4 channel, rated at 40x4 rms.

im not going to tell you that this is THE BEST out there, but it sounds good for what i paid.

i am planning on going active, but as it stands, im running only on two channels and its loud enough to overwhelm my ed 13kv2 on 450 watts rms.
this is all subjective, but if you want a nice balanced system, something like this could be a good combination.

go front stage all the way with a nice clean deck and just put your rearfill on your deck...

CDT-hd-62 for front + ed 9.2 or 9.2x + 880prs and you are in business, for about 1000$ for the package, lol... not only the amps....
