Which amp should i use for an 8" sub? i plan on using the koda 8..

im looking at something in the 100 to 150 watt rms range, kinda like this one

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...tem=5753686512

or maybe a mono amp from alpine, maybe snapping up one from the older v12 series on ebay..

i want the best sq without going crazy expensive and need to maintina the thin profile like the pioneer above or the small alpine amps, space is about 9" by 12" by 5"athough i could probably go bigger if i have to

or am i completely out to lunch and should be using a different sub? im pretty much limited to an 8 due to space

thanks

^^^^^All of which are entirely way too much power for the driver intended.

An older V12 amp would be a great choice.
Ebay has a few V12 MRV-T300 and T500 series that would work well for you. The 300 series is big enough for a single Koda 8".

so would the pioneer be a bad choice? the mono amps seems to be priced higher than a two channel amp of equivalent wattage... is there an advanatage to going to a mono amp besides the fact they usually have filters geared to be used with a sub? or would something like the alpine MRP-T220 be just as good?

mrp-t220
http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn/...=110&p_main=10

ive actually been watching a mrv-100m on ebay ill probably bid on.....

the new series like the m301 list a very low s/n ratio (60db) on the alpine site which is not very impressive, all their other amps are usually rated with a 90 to 100db s/n ratio

id like to keep it to $150us or less, but if i spot one of the small 200.2 zapcos resonable priced i think id have to make an exception, i love those amp! might be a bit of overkill for my purposes though...

The GM-X352 would do the job for you & also offer system flexibilty down the road (if you change the system).

I've had experience with the MRV-100M & it was a good amp as well.

The bottom line comes down to your budget, the reliability of the product & how it's features integrate into your system.

Go with what makes sense to you, take some advice from people if you like but don't buy something just becuase someone says "it's the best!".
