Amp install issue? Sub volume/ speaker fading. Please help.

Hey guys i got my system installed today and something doesn't sound right.. Ill start off by telling you what im running. HU is a kenwood X494 excelon, amp 4 channel XR4S kenwood running front 6.5" components in the doors on the first channel.. The other channel is running a small 10 inch sub DVC 2ohm, wired for 4 ohm.

The problem im having is the sub volume control doesn't really work, when its on 0 the sub works but not very loud. When i turn up the sub volume the left components get louder, and when i turn down the sub volume the left side speakers get quieter, pretty much turn off. Sub volume does not really control the sub perfomance. Also when i turn sub off using the feature on my deck the left side sound turns off. Also when i fade all the sound to the rear all the sound goes to the left side door?

Something is obviously wrong, would like to get your input thanks.

Yeah, the RCAs are in the wrong order. Sounds like left and sub need to be switched around.

It could also be a 2-way/4-way switch is turned to the wrong setting, but I'm not sure if that would do what your describing off hand. Worth a look.

Is there another place you can take your car or is this guy the only place in town??

If if he is and he just works there, you need to take the car back and get the owner to have a listen....when he does he may take care of your wiring and the installer.....you can hope....

It sounds like he has mixed up the RCAs at the back of the deck (for starters) and maybe elsewhere as well, but you can figure it out if you can get the deck out. If you are comfortable with this idea good, if not you need to take it to someone who is.

If you're on your own, reply back here and I will try and walk you thru the troubleshooting process.

HTH

System should be fully tested before it goes out, it obviously wasn't. I'm going back there tomorrow ill let you know what happens..

Thanks guys for all the help, your always helpful.. Happy new year to everyone.

People make mistakes.

If they warranty it then yeah you've lost a little time and that's too bad. But as an installer myself I can't stand seeing these people above jumping down the throat of the installer without even knowing any details about the install.
