Dogbaker - What is your take on DSD CD's? I just purchased a Japanese import CD and it says DSD Mastering on the package.

It seems to sound better than the original but I believe DSD does not mean "Remastered".

I read a little about DSD and it's suppose to be Audiphile quality or something...

Dogbaker - Another question, Does the CD build quality affect the sound quality much?

Let's say I make a 100% backup of this DSD CD onto a cheap blank CD.

Will I notice a difference in the sound? Or does the build quality of a CD make little to no difference.

as you can see I voted yes but not to be taken in ignorance... simply some ppl do not understand and choose to be arrogant towards your knowledge... I do enjoy reading your commentary when I come home from work late evening or night... so for myself and many select others that actually care to try and understand your stand point and will to share knowledge then by all means stay...please... if you tend to become upset by the misserable adolesents who intentionally attack you for sharing usefull knowledge then dont waste your time.

thanks for giving me some good reading till this point.

I voted no, even though dogbaker and I didn't really see eye to eye. Just so we're clear, I wasn't attacking him, I was simply quoting his posts, though somehow I took his printed words out of context.

In any case, the knowledge you're putting up is useful, and the guys heavily into SQ I'm sure appreciate it, and my question about SPL may not belong in the thread, but so long as you're helping, no matter who it is, I don't think you're wasting your time.

However, for the every day guys who have no idea what you're talking about but just want to make the best sounding system they can, it may feel like time is being wasted. I'm sure if a textbook on SQ was to be written for members of CCA, a lot of your posts would be included. Though I've vowed not to get involved any more in this thread, I still frequent it in the odd chance that I pick up something I might implement in my setup.

i have a question (and excuse all the typos as i am typing on a keyboard i cant even see)

how do we rejuvenate the car audio competition scene to return it to the state it used to be? cost efficiently that is.

shops do not want us

magazines only mooch off of us

radio doesnt want to talk about us

manufacturers have long given up

basically there arent any funds coming from anywhere

can any benefits be derived from this sport for any third parties? not including competitors themselves ofcourse.

what to do? what to do?

do you think mobile dynamics croaked for the same reason as the car audio competition scene? (no insult here)

btw, your poll is gay, i think. online forum communities are a waste of time in themselves, they've become a huge battle field for internet pissing matches, this thread is a prime example.

So are you saying CD quality is the same as MP3 quality?

^^yeah check out the "lossy vs. lossless" challenge i put up. It's definitely an interesting listen...and keep in mind that the lossy format is mp3 ripped at 96 kbps vs an aiff lossless track.
