Audison Or Eclipse Amplifier...
#5
Reid, the PA series of amps are quite comparable to the Audison amps. They are not small by any means. For example the PA5422 has a rating of 85w rms X 4. The amp has 4 - 20 amp fuses, it can do some serious output. I have been quite impressed with the Eclipse amp line in the 8 years that I have carried it and seem to sell more of their amps every year. By comparison the Audison VRX4.300 is rated at 75w rms x 4 and has a 70 amp fuse. The Audison has a better crossover in this case but not drastically superior. With the abundance of cd players with built in crossovers now, like your Eclipse with 24db slopes, the better crossover is not 100% necessary. You might be hard pressed to hear the sonic differences between both of these fine amps but I am sure that you will feel the difference in the pocket as the Audison will probably command a much higher price.

I thought that the amp rated it at 110w x 4 a s well but if you look carefully the rms rating @ 4 ohms at 12 volts acroos the frequency spectrum is stated as 75 w rms x 4. For this amp to deliver 100w x 4 with a fuse rating of smaller than the Eclipse, in this case by 10 amps yet delivering about 38% more power would make this Audison amp one of the most efficient in the car audio world and there is no doubt that other companies would have that amp apart right now to find out where the magic amp dust is in it and how it makes the amp so efficient. It is a great amp don't get me wrong, I like it.
You are right about the crossovers I believe, another added cost to the Audison amp, mind you it has it's merits as well.
