audison pg or zapco
Howard Doctor was one of the founders of AVI, the engineer/speaker designer in fact...a background & training which btw made his test reports in AS&S a great read.
I love it how Brandon manages to stick it in his mouth again w/o any help from anyone...

Brandon, I think you'll find that the Brax and Audsion amps you mentioned sound drastically different. As a home audio enthusiast, I would parallel the differences between a Krell KSA 250 and a Bryston 4B ST respectively. islandphile is right...

Just because he designs speakers doesn't mean he knows anything about amps....I'm also not saying he DOESN'T know anything about amps so don't get me wrong, I just find it ammusing that because he designs speakers for AVI, you guys think he must know everything about all the peices of an audio system.
Wow, Bob Carver makes great amps, so I guess he must know alot about passive crossover design too

As for the Krell and Bryston thing, I haven't heard the KSA 250, but as a bryston 2B owner, I'd have to say, other than tube amps I haven't heard many amps like the 2-4B's (my ex girlfriend's dad has a 4B ST)
Funny I see that same Rabbit..."Get out of the tar patch Rabbit!!!"

Howard does have some good ears on him though...I designed some nice Solen passives for my AVI's back in the day, Howard saw them and wanted a listen so I shipped them over...Had a hard time gettin'em back.. Lol!!

My Howard Doctor quote was to qualify my answer as opposed to simply replying Audison. I find it difficult to audition car stereo equipment because a sound board does not replicate the in car environment so in this industry I do rely on good test articles to some extent.
Cheers.
Cheers.

The entire Brax amplifier line has been redisigned for 2004 with the .2 models. E-mail me if you want details (I don;'t want to take up space here).
In terms of the Audison and Brax tonal qualities, I agree that they are VERY different. The "Audison sound" is more comparable to our own Sinfoni amplifiers in that they have a more pronounced/up front style of output. The Brax amps are extremely natural and warm sounding. Nothing wrong with any of these "styles" it is all just personal preference...
