i want to hear opinions on the best 8", for the most part money no object, subwoofer that people have used, basesless opinions not needed, real world experience is required, aka, applied or heard yourself, i am looking for a true 8" subwoofer, i have used jl 8w6, solo 8"(round), xmax 8, but am looking for something a step above, this woofer has to be able to nail 30hz and play as high as 110-120hz very well and do all of this in less that .45-.5 sealed, box opinions are not needed just woofer opinions based on actual personal use, thanks

The quart 8 is awesome............I had them in my Suburban in my doors running coaxial, very tight bass from them....................I will be using them in a sealed steal enclosure in my new truck.............the old JL IB8 was also a awesome woofer.............

used a 8" Kicker L7 for competition a couple years ago. Routinely hit 141dbs on an AC mic. This was in a Hammerhill slot ported enclosure (retail box similar to the Rox Box).
There was a single 8" L7 in the 150+db. It's on the Kicker website under Press Releases. It was mounted in a F-Body Trans-Am.
You get the benefits of a 10" (surface area of the square) but the characteristics of an 8" round sub. That sub took alot of abuse and alot of power. ie..Rockford 1000BD.
If I am not mistaken it only requires a minimum of a 1/3rd of a cubic foot. .33cuft sealed and 2/3rds vented .66cuft.
Mounting depth is reasonably under 5". Give one a chance but after it's been broken in. It seems so much smoother after it's broken in.

the dyn audio is a mw170 and yes tim the cone from surround to surround it 7inches and 8 inches from outside basket edge to outside basket edge. but.... i just got the new 8 inch jbl midbass drivers and they bolt into the openings in my door perfectley and so do these old pg xs804 drivers that we have here in the stock room at the store. soooooooo, i think the dyns, althought they are a true 8inch, are techincally a 8 inch driver.
