lol, buddy im not bashing your deck.

i simply said there are not as many high end deck around when comparing to years past.

my bad with the 880, i think flipped the model numbers, its the earlier of the two that is a nicer unit. but im sure you figured out what i was saying.

and i never said anything at all about value. there are plenty of good decks out there with good value.
but like ANYTHING if you want really high end, for the most part, you aren't getting good value. You are going to pay for it, and whether its fair or not, good value or not, most hi-end stuff is like that.

I think the biggest problem is the defenition of high end? What makes one brand better then another and why? What I'm trying to eliminate is the biased opinions based mainly on price and nostalgia, which goes hand in hand with the misscpnception that new electronics are inferior to older ones. In some cases this is totally true, in other cases misleading.

P.S; I'm not offended by your opinions of the 880 at all, if you prefer older equipment that is totally your right. I'm simply trying to seperate myth from fact.

ya i agree. definition is the biggest problem.

i also agree older is not always better. i simply believe there is less selection of hi end decks being offered now compared to the past. the ones that are being offered are certainly not all inferior, but there are less of them.

my pioneer dexp99rs is probably the nicest deck on the planet.....it comes fully loaded with everything an sq affidieo could possible want.....and the specs are better than every deck made with the exception of the rs d7rII. plus its a dream to use and set up... well done pioneer...

Couldn't agree more, Pioneer makes some of the nicest and best functioning decks on the market, although compared to home audio still lacking drastically. That being said.........$1200 for just the deck is not only rediculous in my humble opinion but borders on insanity. For a 1/3rd of the price you can do almost everything that deck can do with an 880 or 800.
