BMW e28 (535i)

New to this forum.

I wish to upgrade the cars audio.... duh. Its an '85 BMW 535i commonly known as a e28.

I've removed the factory stereo, external fader and the factory amp in the trunk. although all the wiring goes through that loom I seem to have by-passed it... Still having a problem with the Pioneer fader though otherwise it works well.

My question is regarding replacing the rear drivers. All websites indicate that it should be a 4x6... What I currently have in there is stock component BMW stuff (ITT) 1" dome and 5.25" mid. Any thoughts or experiences with this small area to work with without going way overboard? I can handle a bit of fabricating or raising frames but dont wish to go fibreglass, etc.

Thanks,
Bigbadger

i have a 91 318i or an e30 as you might call it all i did was drop in a couple 5 1/4 speakers and they fit quite well except for the fact that the tweeter makes the speaker a little higher than the factory speakers so the original grill dosent quite fit as well
