Adam, what about my question as to whether or not the differences were as audible as changing the speaker itself?

If you got the time, whip up a set of home-made RCAs (twist tightly some 20 ga. alarm wire with a drill and put some metal ends on them) and pick up some 'dollar store' 18 ga. speaker wire and compare.
I have done that as well, it seems to me one should try everything (particularly things that save money and should work electrically) I still haven’t found the Holy Grail or anything from HQ that fits the bill. And it really can change the sound when you put in solid core cable….yuck

^ See now THAT is a good idea. When you look at the sad fact that some 'high end' cables really are nothing more than a pair of 24ga wires in a killer looking flex sheath it makes you wonder
concur

Adam, your impressions on Nordost Valhalla.
I am not Adam but I have heard the Blue Heaven and the SPM on my home system (Valhalla is too expensive to even consider). I liked both very much and did everything well, sounded similar to Kimber (with detailed highs and good imaging)

Adam, what about my question as to whether or not the differences were as audible as changing the speaker itself?
to me more noticeable than amp changes (should be measurable?) but more like moving a speaker/ changing box dimensions/ adding more poyfill or going up to the next speaker in price in the same brand
cables are very subjective….. what works in one system will not work in another as well, that’s not magic it is electrical behavior.

Nordost Valhalla I haven't heard.

Yes changing cable can be as dramatic as changing speakers, but my experience is that this happens pretty rarely. In general, you would have to start with a good cable product and move to a really high end piece to achieve this type of change. And even then, it's deppendant on the equipment used. As stated before, it can dramatically change the sound, but it is not always better.

To be honest, I believe that the Kimber cable and PAD cable will be beter than the Monster in ANY system. But, it's a pretty expensive gamble to buy cable blindly hoping that it works with the gear that you've got.

There is a website in the US that RENTS cables out to people that want to try them.(Really high end cables too) Anyone know this site?

The Cable Company:

And for buying used cable:
http://intershop.blazenet.net/cgi-bi...any.storefront

Used both highly recomended, but that border thing could be an issue ($)

I wonder what the Tara Labs Zero interconnect is made up of to justify a $12,800 price tag.

Egads. Is beryllium supposed to be more valuable than 24kt gold?

Beryllium is the element that JM Labs is using to build their tweeters for their high-end floor standing speakers.

In all the magazine articles that I have read in various audio magazines, I have heard nothing but high praise for Nordost Valhalla. The evaluators have said that there is a very audible difference for the better when they switched the wiring to Nordost Valhalla. I suppose for the price asked, Nordost Valhalla had better make a huge difference for the better !!!!!
