how does the focal 165 kp2 compare to all those other component sets mentioned? is the focal way out of their league or can they be somewhat comparable?

Well, you gotta tell us what kind of sound you prefer and your desired goals.
Is this your first time getting speakers?
Provide us with as much info as possible.

well i bought alpine type r's and they sound like , never even ended up installing them. my infinity coaxial speakers sounded better so im looking for something thats not ear piercing but goes loud and clear and just sounds good, i see ppl using the expression warm so that can maybe add the kind of sound i prefer. i listen to mostly hip hop but my gf is in the car alot too so she likes her rock, alternative and sutff along those lines. and something in the $3-400 price range. and im also going with the fi q 15'' sub sealed around 2.8 cu ft

Well I am ordering a pair of Morel Tempo's from Rob, and they are within the $300 to 400 price range. And they say the Morel's are far better than what Infinity has to offer.

I used to own Infinity Reference components, and they were too bright and the mid bass was poor.

That's awesome dude! I have a set of Morel Tempo's coming in the mail. But in the future I really would like to hear the CDT brand. Everyone seems to say they are a solid brand, so I'd like to give a listen .

To be honest, I would like to hear other brand than CDT but here in Montreal, the Canadian CDT rep lives there. So, it is really easy for us to get good tip, good service, local pick-up, easy warranty etc. For this reason, we all stick to CDT.

What I like about CDT is their range of application: CL,HD and ES series and there's like 4 midranges per series! So, you really get a custom setup just like you want it.

Some said their tweeter is their weak point but I guess if you try their topdog ES-010 you will change idea

the CDT rep lives in Montreal? That's awesome. Just 12 hours away from where I live . Yeah if I was to purchase the CDT brand, it would be the Eurosports.

If you are not a bass-freak. the HD could do the job too.
