compenent sets ... good sq vs price.

^^this is true, even on deck power they are pretty loud and sound pretty good too. I remember doing a friends car a couple of years ago with a pair of 6x9 pioneer tri-axials and 6.5 co-ax's in the doors powered by the deck initially with good results. Later we added one little Pioneer 30x4 amp and it rocked...relatively speaking.

Always liked Canton coaxials myself
And, for the cost, Infinity coaxials sound pretty good compared to their equivilant components (to point out a readily available decent coaxial that I have heard lately).
There are lots of fine coaxials and lots of junk component sets. To classify how good a speaker sounds solely because of its configuration may be presumptuous.

Sorry, i have to disagree with the co-axial hater, the JBL power series co-ax's i have in my car right now are excellent sounding and get damn loud. I'll put them up against any comparably priced components in a proper install anyday( I have that's why I know). How bad can edge driven titanium domes be... especially from JBL.

miglet, you should take some time to maybe listen to the JL Audio XR650CXI coaxials. They are basically a component set and passive x-over..just mounted as a coax. They sound quite good. They also offer adjustable tweeter control as well as an adjustment for midrange presence.
