DD does indeed have a coax (well it is a component that can be turned into a coax) but to my ears both the Macrom and Morel speakers do indeed sound better. My shop is generally a custom shop, meaning I order what I need for the application at hand. Morel being a higher end line I keep little to no inventory on as it ties up a crapload of $ in a hurry. That said, if you are headed this way, the best place to hear them is in your vehicle. Sounds like a golden opportunity to install them and let you listen to them in your vehicle. That is the true and best way to guage how they sound to your ears.

what model of morel did you have in mind? and how much power is optimal? i have a kicker zx460,zr360 and an xs100. i do not have to use them all and i want to keep the charging system stock for now (can't afford any mods just yet). i assume i can check them out online?

I will have to second the JL coaxials. You can go cheaper with their VR line and they will still sound great, or spend a little more and get their top of the line coaxials (XRs). I have had many JL speakers in the past and have never been disappointed.

MR2NR is right....the best way to audition a speaker is in your vehicle.
I had a set of those XR's in the board, and they sounded awesome, but when I installed 'em in my CRV they were aweful. They just didn't suit the stock locations, and I've since gone to seperates with the tweets on the dash.
I've not heard the Morels, so no comment there.
Good luck with your tunes.

JL are good speakers but I just cannot compare them to a Morel, just not a fair comparison in this case.

well i finally got the chance to go and audition the Hertz speakers. i listened to the coax's and the components of the high energy series and also got to listen to the entry level high end series the MLK165's. the only problem i can see with my audition was all drivers were mounted in a sound board, so i do not know how they will react to a vehicle's interior. still i must say that if they sound anything like this in a vehicle i could imagine a person would be very happy, provided you have ample power. all the sets were powered by an audison lrx series amp with 75 watts rms per side. the coax's sound great, and were a real good value considering the price. so far so good for hertz, first time i have really heard them and i am impressed. i need to check out a few more shops and audition more brands to see what my ears like. any more ideas are appreciated.
