Diamond Audio
#1
I just replaced my Diamond Audio Technologies (DAT) M.661 6-inch fronts with the DAT 6 inch Hex speakers and the Hex series definately sound better (got em for a sweet $300). So smooth and so accurate... mmmm, good speakers.
I don't understand why more people don't seem to use DAT equipment. I am assuming it is one of the following reasons:
1) Too $$$
2) Bad reputation?
3) Not enough retail dealers
What do you guys think? Anyone else out there have experiences with Diamond? I luv-em!!

Just out of curiousity what is the diamond line like. I have always been a focal or mbquart user. How do they compair? Oh ya and what is the D3 series like?? (there entry level) The d351i claim 40w rms?? pretty low.

Not too sure about the D3 series - I have not listened to them. Not even sure how they are priced compared to the D6, D9 and Hex etc. Only thing I ever heard about the D3 series is that they are a bit heavier on the low end compared to the D6 but SQ is not a TIGHT! This doesn't surprise me as the M6 I just swapped out did not have enough midbass which is exactly why I swapped it. The M6 is the old version of the D6.
I searched the internet for comparisions between the Focal and DIamond lines and found that half like Focal and half like Diamond, but comparisons were almost always limited to the HEX vs. Polyglass (no Utopia). Diamond tended to get a few more thumbs up but only for $ and for the rear fill and special midbass set-up their crossovers offer. Basically, you can run a 6 inch midbass driver, a 5 or 4 inch driver and tweeter, and then have a rear-speaker (attenuated about -10 db off the crossover) and run all these from 1 (strong) 2-channel amp. For all I know, Focal might offer similar set up options.

Diamond makes an excellent product. It is sonically and physically simular to the Eclipse comp set and simular but certainly not the same as the Focal (detailed highs articulate mids). I would be very surprised if someone who likes Focals didnt like Diamond too. A head to head comparison could go either way for most (a lot of Focal fans out there).

Diamonds are great.. I ran a set of the M6's for over a year and they were awesome at a low to mid volume level. The only problem I had with them was getting output out of them. They didn't seem to handle all that much power or got loud.
