i an lucky enough to listen to dvd audio with the new f#1 status gear every day. i own 5 dvd audio dvd's and one of them is fleetwood mac "rumours" i have had considerable experience listening to the cd over the last 15 years and was very dissapointed with the engineers version of what thew dvd audio version was supposed to sound like. he added in effects and echos that sound out of place and wrong as compared to the original. i as well own the diana krall "love sceces cd and dvd and the engineer did a fantastic job with the dvd audio version, i guess it depends who is doing it and like someone said im sure they are still learning how to play right with their new toy
I am not an audio engineer, so I have no idea if there would be any issues with a 6 speaker set up as a front stage(interference, sound blending etc..). Each driver and a corresponding channel in a DVD-A system would be dedicated to an instrument. It seems logical to me that if each one is reproducing the instrument and placed approximately where the actual piece is located on stage, you should end up with a good reproduction of the original. Comments?

What about an orchestra that has more than six instruments?
I use a DVD-Audio player in my car but don't listen to it a lot as I only currently have two DVD-Audio discs. I would have to agree that it depends on the engineer as some of the tracks sound really good to me & others seem "gimicky".
I do think multi-channel audio is the future of critical listening but will DVD-Audio & SACD be obsolete once Blu-Ray is launched in 2006?

That's not how anything is recorded, really.
It's all up to the engineer and the mix he chooses, or technology he's using when there is multiple musicians...everyone has their own set of mikes already....maybe the back up vocals might share one but other than that everyone pretty much has their own mike to begin with anyhow.
It's not as simple as 6 mikes as it's very difficult to get the appropriate levels and consistancy if the musicians move around stationary shared mikes...so near field mikes are used most times as they only record that particular musician, making mixing easier for the engineer as he can then dial up as much or little of that musician, and actually place the musician anywhere in the stage that he wants by controlling how much of that musician is heard from each speaker, or mulpiple speakers in a surround mix.

I've got http://www.kenwood.ca/products/ListP...k3=149&pr=2464, i find whether it be watching a movie or listening to music, the sound quality was a lot better then my old clarion deck. Much crisper responce.
Two GREAT DVD-Audio disks I listen to all the time:
Foreigner: 4 ..."Juke Box Hero" will blow you away, but the whole album is enjoyable.
Tom Cochrane & Red Rider: Trapeze, the Collection.... Just a fantastic listening experience.
