Eclipse Head Unit
Ummm, yes, just come by the store. Call to make sure I am there first as I work evenings Thurday through Sunday until 3:30am so I may not be at the shop before noon. The CD3100 is a great cd player that fits the bill for most people. If you are going to give the balance of the system the respect that it deserves, then and only then start looking at the CD5100 or CD7100.
I'm surprised to here the problems that Calum had. I live in Winnipeg, which gets REALLY cold in the winter and I've never had a problem. I also found that it plays scratched disks better than pretty much any other deck I've used. Maybe it was something with a certain model that had problems, or maybe I just got lucky!
the post was worded like every car in the area with an Eclipse HU has this issue but I would be surprised if it was.
Moisture can do some entertaining things though. And the CD IS read at different speeds from inside to outside the disc so there is plausibility. I believe he had the problem, I dont believe it is universal. Now as for the inability to read discs as they age.... gosh I hope not, we shall see

sounds like an isolated case. Eclipse makes very good products, and are very reliable...I'm just not a fan of their current styling, but I loved the old stuff and I love their amplifiers and speakers. Actually, my next project (my sister's car), I'm going to use an eclipse amp and speakers, but with the stock deck.
Yeah, I was only talking about the ones that I had. Higher end audio, especially car audio, is almost non-exsistant around here so it's hard to report on what others have found. They weren't the same model number, but the only difference was that one played MP3's, and it might have had more RCA outputs. They had almost identical face plates and I would assume nearly idential internals. It may have been just a problem with that line, I don't know.
