In 21 years of sales of car audio, not one line that I have sold has had issues. That said should I not recommend any line to people? Pioneer for example has a known issue in their circuit design, this issue has been there for at least 15 years now and in some cases it leads to alternator noise. Am I to not recommend Pioneer anymore? What about the days of the Sony CDX5040 and CDX5080 and the Blaupunkt models that were identical?

Eclipse and many companies make some great products, sure there may be lemons in the bunch but they are generally few and far between.

True, ma bad! In that case, I just saw 9887 in the store. Played with it for a bit. I did not see anything mindblowing, but the potential is there, as the specs look good. Imprint is kinda interesting.

As for an Eclipse, I said that "I" would not recommend it. This is only one person's opinion. I am not dissing Eclipse, just pointing out, that I personally had more issues with it, than any other brand. I've had 3 or 4 Alpines, and never had a problem, and would not hesitate to buy 9887, if I was actually in the market for a HU right now. 9887 is my head unit of choice these days.
