why the ef, you should look at the hd or es... no lack of midbass and nice warm sound...

You really can't compare a setup installed in a car to one installed in a board... in a board the driver is sealed perfectly air tight and the rear wave is completely separate from the front... not to mention that you're listening to it 100% on axis.
Even if you have deadener... it's no match compared to a MDF sealed box in a large room... try to get a listen to these installed in a car and get back to us.

Imagine a sub in and out of a box for example... out of a box there is no bass response especially off axis (which is how 90% of mids are listened to in a car).

Mind you the focals do have more midbass than the EF's, the focal K2P’s are a better set (also more than twice the price)... but midbass difference isn't by much if properly EQ’ed.
Comparing the focals to one of CDT's higher lines like the HD's or ES's would be more fair and if compared to the new ES-06+ or 06 drivers it would be no contest in the midbass department for CDT.

On another note though, the K2P's are a nice set.
But don't think they'll sound the same in your car as they did in that board.

Are you saying the new CDT 06+/06 have better midbass than K2P?

Indeed my k2p just got installed and the midbass is not as good as the sound board. It's better than EF but not like night and day difference. However k2p's the high and mid are much nicer, and make my music come alive.

Edit: never mind I just saw the CDT 06/06+ drivers and they look like subs, even the M6 does too. Just by looking at them I am sure they will have tremendous midbass.
