Or perhaps it had to do with how you felt that day, what other loud things you had listened to previously, preconceived expectations ect.

i would think the same way
but it would give me something to start with
there is more then an amp or speakers that go in to the set up
if i had the time and i had the amps i would try that amp than some more typs of amps (but i can't do that ) i know what i'm going to run next yr .now i need to start the work on the set up going in the car

^ very true.

There's no guarantee that by just putting in a "Focal amp" in any system.. will always sound better. It is really up to an experienced installer or tuner to be able to optimize all the equipment to make it sound it's best. (It is an art by itself)

What I heard from Phil's Mercedes (Karz Electronics) is only a glimps of the Focal Amp's characteristic. I would need to listen to atleast two or more setups with the Focal amp to determine its true sonic signature.

Audison VR-4 in the other hand...... wasn't the best sounding amp I have tested in the sound room. I was a bit disapointed actually. and I have heard other systems with the VR-4 amp. It just seems to lack dynamics for one. maybe you have to run it balanced to get that i don't know.......

Joe, I was really pleased with the laid back yet 'big' sound that your car had. That's how I like a car to sound. What would you contribute that the most to? To just sit in somebodies car and listen to it, you can't really say one thing is affecting the sound more than another. Just way too many items are producing that sound. But that said, what do you figure gives your car that sound the most?

do you mean like.. relaxed or a calmness but yet very dynamic with big presentation? I'm sure the system is far from laid back tho.

What would you contribute that the most to?
Well, all the component has to contribute equally to sound it's best. so It really all comes down to the tuning of the system...... which includes attention to detail in optimizing the acoustics, minimizing early reflections, signal alignment of speaker system, electronics, cables, power supplies, etc etc.

what do you figure gives your car that sound the most?
The Milbert does help..... but tweaking of the tubes and some inputs mods was performed during the tuning process.

^ Chad and I have talked about your car a few times. By 'laid back' I think he means that while it has great dynamics and 'big sound' it does not sound edgy or aggressive. Some cars just sound like the speakers are right in your face and it gets fatiguing.

I am going to have to hear your car the next time I see you - it sounds like a real treat.

Hey sweetnlow91sc does that benz have a centre channel or sub in the middle of the dash to achieve that sound? Or is it just a 2-way set up 6.5's in the door and tweeters in the pillars. I think I saw it in kelowna last summer, but didn't get a chance to hear it.

Thanks for clarifying that.....

^ there are no center channel speaker and the subwoofer are in the rear (see pic). I'm not 100% sure if it was the 2-way or 3-way. but the tweeter are in the A-pillar, and mid-woofer is in the door. I believe there are delays applied to the left channel to get the the proper placement.... as the pass seat was all right bias.
