but if u have your heart set on going your way....just use tin foil shaped flat to the dash...and just use duct tape around the edges.

be careful. resin doesnt like to come off carpet or other upholestry.

** i meant duct tape not masking tape lol
Thanks for the info - the dash isn't going to damaged at all. They are going to be siting on the dash with acoustic padding underneather! This layer is just to make sure no resin get to the dash. After everything is masked away I'm putting the padding down. Then covering it with a tin foil and masking off the rest of the dash with a plastic bag to ensure no spillage!!

------------
I'll try the dish soap - unscented??? LOL

Cheers

yah. so if u ever want to get rid of the car. or have to return it to factory for some reason. u'll have holes in the dash.

i just recomment drilling into cheap plastic a pillar instead of the dash.

Try another type of masking tape. There are lots of type to choose from. I would also agree with doublexl about securing the cabinets. Putting holes in your dash is probably not the best/safest method for holding you pods down. Unless you are attaching them to metal somewhere. How about attaching them to the metal of you pillars. You would not have to mount them on you pillars, just use the strength of the metal pillars to your advantage. And when you finally decide to fiberglass your pods, use lead shot, ball bearings or some other heavy material to help reduce resonances in your pods. I have 5lbs of clay on each of my kicks and my dash mounted mids use fishing weights (lead *****) mixed in with the fiberglass.

Keep the photo's coming.

I used aluminum foil with electrical tape then green painters tape - took more time but got the drivers side done! See photos! Thanks for the Clay idea Fozz -where can I get non-hardening clay? I'm on a time crunch for the Peterborough show so I'd like to have it done for then!

I'm also going to use some closed cell foam (BlackHole'Stuff') to help with tuning this thursday!

More photos to follow - if the f'n wather holds up!

The green tape is one of the least sticky. Good for you windsheild, but not for the plastics. I get clay from a local gardening shop. I would not recommend it for you dash area though, it get pretty soft when its hot. For you dash, mix up the lead shot instead. It works well and you can get it at wal-mart.

The show has been delayed, so you will still have some time.
