front stage (Mpyre 65M, CSS FR125SR?, tweeter?)

Hi guys,

I am now going with the Mpyre 65M for my midbass/midrange.

I hear the Mpyre will not be able to extend in the upper range very well, but am not able to find any freq charts or any info on where they should be crossed over. Does anyone have any info on this?

Can anyone recommend any tweeters that can extend low enough for the Mpyre set?

If not, I am thinking of a 3 way setup with the CSS FR125SR. Not sure what to do for a tweeter.

I can see myself running into many problems if I decide I have to have a 3 way set.

Firstly, I will need a passive crossover because the midrange and tweet will be on the same amp. Second, the impedence on the CSS FR125SR will be around 8ohms. Third, looking over my car I do not think I have enough room for kicks, the gas pedal (I have a RHD car) is too close to the kick panel...maybe floor pods, firing upwards?

Many questions , just looking for some ideas

i am running the mpyres as midbass,fr125 as mid range with vifa xt25(ala fozz) for tweets.currently i have my mpyres low passed at 125hz 24db slope(take with a grain of salt because i havn't got proper processing yet) i have a serious peak, resonance, whatever, any higher. i am currently using the x/o on a sundown sax 100.4 for my midrange and tweets. i have read of the vifa being crossed as low as 1000hz

You could try the L3 from Hybrid Audio or the Alpair from Mark Audio (Creative Sound Solutions here in CANADA). The Alpair is more of a tweeter that plays really low and the L3 is a mid range that can extend pretty well, but its not a tweeter. 3-way set ups are much harder to tune. I suggest 2-ways whenever possible.

I think the Alpair driver would fit my needs, where would I position this in the car?

Another tweeter to consider is Seas Neo as it plays low as well without problems.

^^ This was suggested by a few who have the Mpyre set, but I cannot find the tweeter anywhere. Is it still in production?

I also have a set of Focal K2P tweeters from the 5.25" component set. How low can those extend?

You dont need a tweeter that will play low. You need a mid that will play high. Your 65M really sucks at high frequencies. I would say is starts to really stink things up around 500hz. So you need something that can go from 500Hz and beyond.

Check out Solen and Madisound. They both have them.

Agreed. 500hz? That is ridiculous. I'd like to see they go up to 5-7khz.
