I sold McIntosh at Ralph's Radio & I can tell you that McIntosh hasn't evolved in head units since they were bought by Clarion in the mid-'90s.
The MX-406 CD player is the same model I was selling almost 10 years ago (therefore, no MP3 & no iPod control).
For the amount of money that they ask for these things I think you'd be better off looking at the mainstay brands like Alpine, Clarion, Eclipse & Pioneer (in no particular order [img]graemlins/thumb.gif[/img] ).

Good advise above. It's a minimilist but high SQ deck. I personally like them a lot. I find them to have a very nice signature, warm. I find my Z1 somewhat clinical by comparison and I think I found my 5303 more pleasing than my Z1 (in some but not all respects) and less so than the MC/T. If it's features you're after look elsewhere.
