They are not too small. I went strictly by what Hertz said for box volume taking into account driver displacement. You certainly can go bigger for sure but I almost guarantee that you will start getting a lot muddier sound that way even if it might be louder. My ride I had no intention of going spl with. It gets plenty loud for me and maintains its solid sq. Now, if I could just get this time alignment right for once. I think I finally have the eq setup good enough thanks to a calibrated mic and rta software and also a full rta at my installers to confirm.

I'm not hacking on your setup - it sounds like it's very nice. Just saying that if someone tells me their system gets loud but doesn't rumble that they likely have an undersized sealed box. Manufacturers rarely spec the best box, just the smallest one most people will still tolerate.

I went for pure sq and not spl here. the box suits me just fine. It does rumble when you crank it anyways and does it nice and clean.

Clearly you did not go for spl. IMO you may have done better for SQ though, but to each their own

Hey, I got my box for free from someone that was toting a pair of blown JL's in it (besides the point). Therfore I don't know the specs, how can I measure it?
