Cool Ha!

Alright, so I have been kind of pissed off that I can't make my car's sq even close to my computer's sq and I spent over $1000 on it. So I turned on the computer and just started listening to songs trying to figure out why my system sucks and I realized that it is the way that the subs blend with the speakers. On my computer it is impossible to tell when the frequency's stop playing on the sub vs the speaker. But in my car, the loudness of my low frequency's vs the loudness of my high frequencies is way off. I have the "oomff" on the low notes but anything higher than the cross over point is just non-oomffy if that makes sense? Lol. If you guys understand what I am trying to say how the heck to I solve this problem? I am going from around 1200watts on two 15"s to 350watts on one 15", think this will help at all?

How are you mids installed? If they are in the doors have you deadened them and sealed all the holes that you could? There are lots of things you can do that don't cost much to improve the low end output of mids. They might not end up noticeably louder but they'll play lower and blend better with your subs.

That is just it, with out the subs the speakers sound great. When I listen to music like rap the sq is great too because the low and the middle frequency's aren't as tied together as they are in for example techno music, if that makes sense.

Try something like Dire Strait / Brothers in Arm, and use trk:1 "so far away". just play the front speakers and see if they are coherent from top to bottom. if they are... turn on the sub and hear how the bottom intergrates with the rest.......... sometimes the polarity needs to be flip from 0-180 degree to achieve that. the bass should be nice and snappy.

and if the fronts are not coherent you need to get that fix so they are..... before the sub could be line up with the fronts.

Alright I will try findin that song. And I totally forgot about the polarity thing, that may play a big role in why the sub is so far off.

And I have a question for you sweetn'low. Do you own the vehicle that is pictured in your avatar? I have always wondered that but it never occured to me that I could ask you lol.

Back when you were complaining about sq in your truck, i suggested midbass was missing. 1200w on 2 15's and whatever on 5-1/4 coax won't mix. your subs only go up to 80Hz. Your 5-1/4 won't go much below 150Hz, unless you amp and eq them to force midbass, but that will just hurt them. Add some 8's for midbass only.
To go with my 2 15's, i've got 6x9's rear and 6-1/2 components that are bi-amped @ 125 wrms.

There we go, that is what I was lookin for. I remember someone saying that my small speakers versus big subs was not a good mixture.

I should get some good speakers for midbass? Is it hard to match up seperate mids with component speakers and subs?

^ thats not always true.

It depends how dynamic & linear your 5 1/4" is vs the sub.. as long as the sub is not a one note wonder.... it should work. but if the 5 1/4" set is compressed sounding with no midbass... i doubt very much it could work. then you would need a midbass driver to make it work. asumming you have the correct x-over for the job.

The key, as others have already mentioned, is midbass up front. It doesn't have to be 8s. Make sure you can seal them as good as possible and feed them a good amount of power. I have 125watts rms going to each side of my 6.5 and tweet components up front. They are in the stock sealed kickpanel location. And they have great up front bass and they are also very snappy. Brings my sub right up to the front, unless I need a ultra heavy dose of bottom end.
