How low is to LOW

Not all of us can afford the kilowatts of power, huge wiring, upgraded alternators, and multiple subs required to get sufficient SPL out of traditional sealed enclosures.
Loud, Low, or Clear. Those are the qualities of any sub that one must choose to buy, or to sacrifice, when designing bass into a budget.
It's fine to want to feel the infrasonic bass, but if you sacrifice 6 to 10 dB at the all important 30 to 60 Hz range, in order to achieve the same gains at 15Hz, the overall "feel" is just not the same.
I have an IDMAX-12 in a 2 3/4ft box, tuned to 28HZ, that gives a pretty good "feel" down to 15HZ. Maybe 4 or 5 DB down at that level in-car, and I have a subsonic filter in the system.
I'm only using 190 watts to the sub, so my over-all sub/amp/install cost just breaks $1k.

They also play down to 11 hz. They thrive in the subbass region. Their ultra efficient design definitely doesn't tax my electrical system on my Camry.

But hey, it's all opinion and personaly preference, right? You guys have your preferences, I have mine.

Breathe...breathe in the air...don't be afraid to care.
I hear ya Dave. There really is nothing like perfection. Still haven't "felt" the bass I used to get at a good Supertramp concert.
There's something about ultra low frequencies that evokes emotions
, heightens awareness levels, and stirs raw energy.
Not everyone is multisensory, or at least not concious of it, hence the disparity in opinions, as to whether the removal of "inaudible" notes is worthwhile.
If I wasn't on a budget, I'd have a couple of good 10's sealed, a ton of power, and go from DC to light....
As it is, I'll be the "barefoot cobbler", and settle for the next best thing (and also what sells).

DC - that's good frequency response... DC-20KHz @ -1dB would work for me.
Anyways, I don't think it's about 'perfection', just spending the money properly when you have saved up enough.
Your comment about emotion is interesting - I read some stories about low frequency oscillations on submarines making the crew nervous and scared - it actually effected a verified emotional response. I've liked <20Hz bass ever since I read that.
