Hummer alt noise

(GrizZz here, wife's PC)

So my stereo shop sent over a '94 Hummer H2 yesterday... Very nice system installed. 2 subs, custom Diamond Audio (I think) amps, Kenwood dbl-DIN touchscreen DVD, multiple screens, coupla capacitors, etc. etc.

They're got alternator whine through the (amped) full range speakers. And they've been tracing the problem for a while and can't find it.

Not having much faith, I said yep I'll have a look. Checked it all out, jumped some grounds, AVR'd the charging system, etc. all to no avail, alt whine still bleeding through.

And since they're using the TOL HU from Kenwood, I'd think that the problem lies elsewhere. I have their TOL non DVD HU, and I never get noise through it. The few times it's been out for repair (typical Kenwood lousy miniturized cd mech), I've installed a cheapy HU and had tons of alt whine. Get mine back, plug'er back in, and all noise is gone...

Short of replacing the alternator just to eliminate the possibility of it being at fault, anyone got any other suggestions?
