I think you mean cutting holes in you crush panel area. Like behind a kick panel. I did this in my car.

and you have no issues with back waves finding their way around your car with this method?

or does it act as a horn and you just time delay it a little?

Ok so now we have all the techy info out of the way! My midbass drivers are the K2P Bass extension kit 6.5" drivers. Currently they are housed in a sealed enclosure in the kicks. I have to use 1/2 a pound of pillow stuffing to stop the kick from resonating!

If I cut the back section out to change the enclosure to IB what size hole and are there any factors that need to be address

"Fozz: I spoke with Focal America and they said the 165KBE's will work in a IB application!"

Here is a photo of my kicks. You can see the hole behind the midbass driver. I would say the bigger the hole the better. If you can make it as large as the cone on the driver your using your golden. I don't have a hole cut that large, but my midbass still works well. My kicks are bolted to the car, and I have about a few lbs of clay in and around them to add more mass. There photo are show my preliminary trials for the holes. I ended up making them a little bigger, cleaned up the edges and added sound deadening.
